First hybrid plant: 40 MWh of batteries at Guadiana

We are adding four-hour LFP storage to an operating plant without enlarging its grid connection.

GEOLight has started building its first hybrid project: 40 MWh of LFP batteries added to the 90 MWp Guadiana photovoltaic plant in Badajoz, Spain.

Why hybridise

Solar noon coincides with the lowest market prices. Batteries store part of that energy and sell it into the evening peak. Our models point to an 18% increase in revenue per MWh.

In-house EMS

The system will run on the EMS built by GEOLight’s digital team, which optimises the strategy across day-ahead, intraday and balancing markets every 15 minutes.

Commercial operation is expected in the first quarter of 2027.
