GEOLight connects Los Llanos: 150 MWp in Albacete
Our largest plant to date is exporting to the grid after 13 months of construction, with 272,000 bifacial modules and a flock of 600 sheep.
The Los Llanos photovoltaic plant (Albacete, Spain) has passed its grid-connection tests and is now exporting power. At 150 MWp, it is the largest project GEOLight has built since it was founded in 2011.
Thirteen months, zero lost-time injuries
Construction started in August 2025 and employed 420 people at peak, 60% of them local residents. The team closed the project without a single lost-time injury.
“We have shown you can build fast without compromising on safety or on the local community,” says Joan Ferrer, CTO.
Technology
- 272,000 bifacial 550 W modules
- Single-axis trackers with backtracking
- Expected output: 285 GWh per year, the consumption of 81,000 homes
Biodiversity
The layout sets aside 12% of the land for wildlife corridors, seasonal ponds and native hedgerows. A flock of 600 sheep manages vegetation without herbicides.
